Project
The main aim for this website was to demonstrate that I 'practice what I preach' - the site in itself had to be usable, accessible and solidly constructed with no 'hacks'. Every stage of the project was conducted to the highest standards to achieve maximum quality.
Features
Design
Requirements gathering was performed with actual target audience representatives to make sure the content and design were appropriate. A rapid cycle of evaluation and re-design was then performed to arrive at the optimum design.
Evaluation
Rigorous but low-cost evaluation was performed at every stage to achieve quality code, usability and accessibility (the site achieves level AAA accessibility - more than most professional websites).
Content management
The site is generated from XML, meaning content is completely seperate from style, making maintenance efficient and cost effective.
Code
All code is valid CSS and strict XHTML, so page download times are faster and presentation is more consistent across browsers (see the validation links at the bottom of every page). Sound stuctural markup means that the site can also be used perfectly well without stylesheets.
