Project details

The Vitality Clinic is a small consultancy which helps people cope with health problems linked to nutrition (such as allergies, weight problems and disorders of the digestive system).

The brief for the project was simply to create an online presence to help publicise the company's services.

My approach was to work closely with the client to establish the requirements for the project and provide feedback at every stage. Typically, areas under discussion included (but were not restricted to):

  • Defining the purpose of the website and the target audience
  • Understanding marketing considerations
  • Creating and maintaining a branded look - a layout, logo and colour scheme

Graphic design

The site is still under development, but I can show you examples of the graphic design (below). The brief in creating the visual aspect was driven by a collection of key words, including:

  • 'simple'
  • 'warm'
  • 'lively'
  • 'dynamic'
  • 'in your face'

Logo

For the logo design, a simple logotype was chosen for ease of reproduction. Here, the 'V' of 'Vitality' is slightly glowing and 'jumping' out of the boundary of its orange box, reflecting notions of 'energy' and 'dynamism' - notions that customers will hopefully feel when they undergo a course of nutritional therapy.

Layout and colour scheme

Orange had already been chosen by the client as the main colour, so I worked this in with complementary colours of yellow and light grey. The layout is simple and uncluttered, with a classic navigation-left, content-right pattern.
